Vanda orchid flower is the
national flower of Singapore, which it is a hybrid orchid called Vanda Miss
Joaquim. Among the Vanda Miss Joaqium, the type of ‘Agnes’ is represent the
Singapore spirit.
This vanda orchid is native
to northern Australia and eastern Asia, you may able to found this orchid in
India, Himalaya, southern China and Philippines.
Majority of this species
of orchid is belong to the type of epiphytic, which it grow on trunk or branches
of tree. There are also could be epiphytic, lithophytic or even terrestrial,
which this is less sensitive to moist if compare to the other epiphytic (grow on
tree) or lithophytic (grow on stone).
The way could differentiate
the habitat of this vanda orchid is not difficult, you may notice the shape of
leave to differentiate it! If the leave has the shape if cylindrical and fleshy
means it has to survive in dry season.
The blossom of this orchid
has flat faced and round shape appearance petals, and the sepals are equally in
size. The plant able to grow three (3) to four (4) feet height.
If you plan to have this
vanda orchid to light up your garden, there are some tips you should take into
consideration. The idea temperature at daytime is twenty four (24) to twenty
nine (29) degree C, whereas eighteen (18) to twenty four (24) degree C for night
time.
The light requirement is
also important, this orchid need more light. The mid-day light could caused the
leaves become yellow. The ideal sun light is from morning eleven (11) to three
(3)pm. If you noticed that the leaves is turning from light green to dark
green, it means that you need to let your plant to expose more sunlight.
