The type of paphiopedilum
orchid flower also known as lady slipper orchid or slipper orchid. The word
paphiopedilum is derived from the two Greek words, which is paphos and pedilon.
The Greek word pedilon carry the meaning of slipper, wheares Paphos is the name
of a city at Cyprus.
As the name described, this
orhid has a pouch on blossom, which it as a slipper appearance. The pouch is not
only for decoration, but it serves the function to trap the insect and collect
it. There are have varities size of blossom which is from two (2) inches blossom
on short stem to the over ten (10) inches blossom on tall thick stem.
The paphiopedilum orchid
could be divided into two (2) categories, which is Maudiae type and Bulldog
type. There could be differentiate with their leaves, Maudiae has mottled
leaves, which is the leaves marked with patches of different colour without
regular pattern. However, Bullgod type of orchid has uniformly green leaves.

should take into consideration. Best environment to plant the Maudiae orchid is
between fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) degree C at the night time, whereas day
time is suitable on between twenty four (24) to twenty nine (29) degree C.
For the Bulldog type of
orchid, it enjoys and grows well at the cooler environment. There is twenty six
(26) degree C on day time and between ten (10) to fifteen (15) degree C at the
night time is most comfortable time to flowering.
