Oncidium orchid flower is a genus in orchid family, there are has over three hundred (300) species currently.  The name of oncidium orchid is from the word of Greek ‘onkos’ which it carry the meaning of tumor or swelling. This may also refer to the warty groths on the lip of blossom.

Majority of this oncidium orchid grow on tree, which this call ‘epiphytes’, some of it is grow on stone (lithophytes) and also could be found on ground (terrestrials).  This orhid produce one (1) to three (3) leaves at the base of pseudobulbs.

If you plan to have this oncidium orchid to light up your garden, there are some tips you should take into consideration. Best environment to plant this orchid is between ten (10) to fiftten (15) degree C at the night time, whereas day time is suitable on the under twenty nine (29) degree C.

To have a healthy orchid is to avoid direct under sunlight, direct sunlight would cause the leave turn into reddish green shade. It is advisable to place this plant facing the east or south direction, it is a good way to avoid the direct sunlight.
