Double Early Tulip

Double Early Tulips are as Single Early Tulip, there are flowering during late of March and Early April. Both of them are belonging to the Early Spring Tulips.

The different in between this two kind of tulips are double and single early tulips are the tulips under categories Double Early have petals more than six (6) petals, whereas the single early tulips has cup shaped and with six (6) petals.

This kind of tulip bloom does not like single early tulips have cup-shaped, but the many petals make it more look like peonis. When the bloom has fully open, the bloom could be as wide as 4" (10cm).

The colours of these tulips are not as varies as other types of tulip, but the blooms are long lasting, so it is suitable for containers. In addition, these tulips are not tall but it is strong and sturdy.


Flowering Period :

Early Spring (Late March and Early April)

Double Early Tulip usually around the same time as Single Early Tulips

Bloom Shape / Form : More than six (6) pedals (Multipetalled) and almost resemble small peonies (open fully under the sun)
Plant Height : 8 – 16” (20 – 40cm); average : 10 – 12” (25 – 30cm)
Minimum planting Height : 6” (15cm)
Bloom Colour : White, pink, yellow, orange, red

Example tulips without fragrance (colour) : Carlton Abba (red), Bonanza (deep orange and yellow), Orange Nassau (reddish orange), Sven Dahlman (cherry pink)
